WEDNESDAY 6th........SUNDAY 10th
Some friends arrived to spend some time with us so Buck took Max out in the bay and I spent time with his wife Ann....which meant morning coffee, an adventure to the local opp shop that opens once a week...2pm till 4pm on Fridays and it’s an adventure.....like going to a closing down sale...I got the giggles...never seen so many people! Ann wanted a jug for sauces so I powered my way through the throng and spotted one on a shelf....Ann was impressed...$1.00 ! Between cleaning crabs and lunch at Wallaroo at the Ale House ...Dinner at the pub Friday night and more coffee, they set of this morning to Robe in the bottom South East of South Australia....
Looks like rain........none here for 3 months!
The Port Broughton Hotel facing East over the bay...only place for pub meals as the SunnySide up the road....a more modern building lost its chef a few months back after he and owner had a blue and punches were thrown! Small town life! Therefore the other pub is wracking it in!
Original school house...now a museum..built in 1892..enrolment of close to200 children...pretty frangipany growing in the school yard...there are many in the town and seem to thrive!

Catholic Church on the highest ground in the township!
The town of Port Broughton was established in 1876....now has a population of around 1200 which can swell to over 4000 in the holiday periods as it is only 2 hrs north of Adelaide...on the northern extent of the Yorke Peninsula on the East Coast of the Spencer Gulf...it’s relatively protected resulting in large expanses of shallow water!
Shag Island lies in the bay...an important breeding ground for several species of cormorant, hence the saying...wet as a SHAG!
Original school house...now a museum..built in 1892..enrolment of close to200 children...pretty frangipany growing in the school yard...there are many in the town and seem to thrive!
years have come along and built shacks along the edge of the bay...apparently the land was just taken and built on and due to the length of time they can’t be moved as generations of the families that built them continue to holiday in them...some have been renovated as well!

Nice sky and clouds (1st photo). Do you reckon rain will happen?
